Book2CD Newsletter 2 (May 2004)
After publication of
the Apeldoorn Ericas on CD, Apeldoorn can be pleased with a new series about
the pearl of the Veluwe:
"Kroniek van Apeldoorn".
Book2CD received 4 editions at their disposal from CODA (the former
Apeldoorn Archive). These contain the history of the years 1872 till 1899.
This describes the life in Apeldoorn at that time, for which among others the
Apeldoorn Courant, council reports and commemoration books were consulted
Subjects are among others the fire department, trade and industries, the Royal
family and Het Loo, politics, city development, markets and society life.
The paper version is still for sale at CODA. Book2CD can offer you the 4
editions on one CD for the price of $14,95
The cooperation with the national Archive of Noord-Holland is a fact! We have
started scanning the first books.
The first CD made by Book2CD will be about the city of Haarlem. It contains a
series of 4 books about the history of Haarlem in its earliest days (ca. the
11th century) until the end of the 19th century. It does not only discuss
politics, but also social development, economy and town planning. Much
attention is paid to individuals and Haarlem families. It contains a separate
index of family names.
The books are illustrated with photos and some maps.
From a privately owned collection we received a series of almanacs about the
province of Groningen. The series includes 41 books, from the period between
1837until 1928.
The Groninger people almanacs are yearbooks about history, linguistics and
literature. They give information of a general interest, such as calendars,
market dates, time tables of mail coaches and trading barches, postal
rates, opening times of city gates and information about musea and libraries.
Further more it contains short stories and poetry about Groningens history.
Maybe a nice read with the coming royal visit.
The 1893 almanac tells about (both) the queens visit to Groningen on june 21
1892:
